Angry Birds busting pigs in space

Those angry avians will stop at nothing, not even Earth's gravitational pull. Rovio Mobile, the company behind the infamous Angry Birds, have announced that Angry Birds Space will come to a mobile device near you on the 22nd of March, and it will be their biggest launch, after the launch of the original Angry Birds. They said that Angry Birds Space is a completely new game with new gameplay, but it also will have some familiar elements from the original Angry Birds games. They also said that this is their first big launch, since being an integrated entertainment company, as opposed to a mobile game developing company. They're launching the game, along with animation and retail, completing the multimedia circle that will make Rovio, an entertainment company.

The Angry Birds have already been to space before, as a tie-in with Samsung and their Galaxy line. In Angry Birds Seasons 2011, in the chapter Summer Pignic, there is a golden egg level where the pigs are in space and you have to hurl the birds at the pigs in zero gravity. The speed that the birds fly at and the heights they reach are very different from regular gameplay. Similarly, Angry Birds Space will have you fling the birds in zero gravity. According to Yahoo!, slow motion puzzles and destroying at light speed will be involved.
NASA and National Geographic have partnered up with Rovio Mobile for Angry Birds Space. Andrew Stalbow, GM of Rovio North America said that science and education are very important to the company. Furthermore, he said that the physics of the game is so accurate and easy to grasp that some physics teachers use Angry Birds in their lessons to teach projectile motion.

Earlier this week, Angry Birds came to Facebook with some changes to the original game play that made it more social. It seems Rovio Mobile is intent on keeping Angry Birds alive by evolving the game to not only suit the needs of various platforms, but also to keep players interested. For now, there are no specific details about Angry Birds Space, except its name and release date, but check out the trailer embedded above and this teaser website Rovio's set up.
