The 10 inch Acer A500 currently runs Android 3.x will get the latest Android Ice cream sandwich version in April.
Acer Iconia A500 will be getting the Android 4.0 update in April, the Taiwan based tablet and PC maker has confirmed this through official Twitter account.
"To all Acer Iconia Tab A500 and A100 users, please expect an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in mid-April! Thank you for your patience," said the company in its tweet.
Earlier, it was rumored that the A500 won't get the update, but that has now been officially refuted. The tablet is perfectly a capable device and for us update was always on the cards.
Acer A500 is priced in India at around Rs 29,000. It is powered by a 1 GHz dual core processor, and comes with HD-optimised graphics and 1 GB DDR2 RAM. The tablet comes with a high resolution 10.1 inch screen along with a 5 megapixel camera at the back. It is a WiFi model.
The 3G version of A500 is A501 is also available in market.
Another Tablet from Acer called the Iconia A200, which was earlier supposed to be launched in January is also expected to be launched in India by March. It will come with Android 4.0. Like the Iconia 500, the Acer Iconia A200 tablet comes with an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor along with a 1 GB of DDR 2 RAM, front facing camera and 16 GB of internal storage space. The rear camera however has been removed.
