LG Optimus G Pro Coming to India on June 20th

LG might be enjoying the success of the Nexus 4 in India, and in order to retain that streak the company is planning to launch the new LG Optimus G Pro in India on the 20th of June.
The 5.5 inch smartphone from LG will fall into the Galaxy Note 2 category of phone sans the stylus. The LG Optimus G Pro has a  True Full HD IPS Plus LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
For the hardware geeks, the Optimus G Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, which features a 1.7GHz Quad-Core CPU and Adreno 320 GPU. A massive 3140 mAh battery and 2GB of RAM.
The LG Optimus G Pro has a 32 GB storage along with 64 GB expandability via microSD card. A 13 MP rear camera and a 2.1 MP front camera enable full HD video recording and LG was also the first to show off dual camera features with the LG Optimus G Pro, right before Samsung launched the S4 into the market.
While the exact dates are unknown, several of our resources within LG have hinted at a June 20 launch, and now an independent report from Indiatimes confirms the date.
LG has somehow managed to always remain the underdog in the Indian market, thanks to delays in their products. But it looks like the company has great plans ahead and should be able to gain a large market share in India. The Price of the Optimus G Pro is expected to be in the Rs. 35,000 price bracket, but exact pricing is unknown. It is crucial for LG to launch the LG Optimus G Pro at a price that would totally capture and take the market away from Samsung, else the Note 2 and Galaxy S4 will remain the key phones.

Best quad-core budget phones under Rs. 15,000 in India (May 2013)

If someone told you last year that you would be able to get an Android smartphone running a quad-core CPU under Rs. 15,000 you’d laugh at him or her in the face. With the advent of technology however, incredulity ceases. Micromax started the trend of quad-core budget smartphones with the launch of the Canvas HD and a lot of smartphone makers in India have followed.
Today, the consumer is spoiled for choice when it comes to budget smartphones running a quad-core CPU. These smartphones have a decent build. Some of them even show off an impressive 720p HD display. And while the camera on these smartphones is questionable, the devices run all the apps from the app store with ease. It’s safe to say that these smartphones give you a decent Android experience at the least.
We’ve compiled a list of the ten best budget quad-core Android smartphones you can buy today, listed in no particular order. Do check out the list before making your purchase decision. Do also check out our Top 10 list of the best budget smartphones in India.
Intex Aqua Wonder Quadcore
The Intex Aqua Wonder Quadcore shows off dual-SIM capabilities and has a 4.5-inch qHD (960x540 pixel) display. The quad-core budget smartphone has the very popular quad-core MediaTek MT6589 SoC with 512MB of RAM. It is priced at Rs. 9,990.
It has a meagre 1.93GB of built-in storage, which is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. It also houses an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling. An 1800mAh battery powers the entire package and it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The low built-in storage is a problem especially if you have a ton of contacts and some apps that can’t be moved to the SD card.
Xolo Q700
After the success of the Xolo Q800, we now have the Xolo Q700 on store shelves. The quad-core budget smartphone shows off a 4.5-inch IPS display with 540x960 pixel resolution giving it a 245ppi pixel density. It has a 5MP rear camera and VGA video calling camera. The Q700 has 1GB of RAM, 4GB built-in storage expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card.
A 2400mAh battery powers the budget quad-core smartphone, which the company claims will deliver 17 hours of talktime on 2G and 16 hours of talktime on 3G. For connectivity options, the Xolo Q700 supports 3G, Wi-Fi, WLAN and Bluetooth.
Moreover, the Xolo Q700 comes preloaded with Xolo Unlimited that gives users access to its three premium apps – Xolo Switch, Xolo Secure and Xolo Power. The Xolo Unlimited is available on Q700 only. The Xolo Switch allows users to create up to 4 profiles with different lock screens, apps and wallpapers. Users can change their profile with a simple flick. Xolo Secure gives users access to remotely lock and wipe phone data, cloud backup for SMS and call log, alerts on SIM change and more which is very useful if the phone gets stolen. The Xolo Q700 is priced at Rs. 9,999
Micromax A116 Canvas HD
Considered the most popular budget Android smartphone in the market, the Micromax A116 Canvas HDwas the first device to launch in India that boasted of a quad-core processor and a 720p HD display. The display of the smartphone is vibrant and beautiful. It also boasts of dual-SIM capabilities.
If you are someone who needs a powerful budget device to be able to effectively tinker with Android, add custom ROM’s, etc., then the Canvas HD is the smartphone for you. The layman user who wishes to have access to apps and a simple interface can also use it.
The Canvas HD also has a nice curvy design, which distinguishes it from the other 5-inch smartphones available in the market. For Rs. 14,500 the smartphone is definitely worth considering. But remember, if you try to run Flipboard on the device, it will hang.
Karbonn S5 Titanium
The Karbonn Titanium S5 is priced at Rs. 11,990. For the price you pay, you get a 4-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, and 1GB RAM. It is one of the quad-core smartphones on this list that runs on the Qualcomm chipset instead of the MediaTek one found on the Micromax Canvas HD and the Xolo Q800. It also supports dual-SIM capabilities (3G+2G). The rear of the smartphone has an 8MP camera and the front has a 2MP camera for video calling.
The only downside to the Karbonn Smart Titanium S5 is that of the 4GB built-in storage, 1.4GB is user accessible. For more storage, you will need a microSD card. The 2000mAh battery shows the potential to last users through the day.
The Karbonn Titanium S5 also doesn’t support all the video formats such as MKV and MP4, so if consuming a lot of multimedia on the go is a requirement, you may want to consider the other alternatives.
Micromax Canvas Doodle A111
The Micromax Canvas Doodle A111 boasts of dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) capabilities. The phone features a 5.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with 854x480 pixels resolution. The size of the display is larger than the Canvas HD but the resolution isn’t stellar. It runs Android 4.1.2 straight out-of-the-box. Unlike the Canvas HD, which runs on the MediaTek SoC, the Doodle A111 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm 8225Q processor.
The Canvas Doodle A111 has an 8MP rear camera and a 0.3MP video calling camera. It also sports 512MB of RAM. The phone has only 1.22GB built-in storage, but can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. For connectivity, the smartphone supports Bluetooth, 3G, EDGE, GPRS, GPS and Wi-Fi.  A 2100mAh battery powers the package.
The smartphone comes with a stylus but unlike the Note series of devices from Samsung, this stylus doesn’t show off any unique capabilities. The Canvas Doodle A111 is priced at Rs. 12,999.
Spice Stellar Pinnacle Pro

Lava Iris 458q
Just like so many that came before it, the Lava Iris 458q has a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with a FWVGA resolution. It sports 4GB built-in storage and expandable up to 32GB via microSD.
The budget quad-core smartphone has 512MB of RAM, which is a bit low considering most of the other quad-core smartphones offer 1GB of RAM. The Iris 458Q has an 8MP rear camera and a VGA video calling camera. A 2,000mAh battery powers the smartphone.
Lava has also preloaded various apps such as WeChat, Push Mail, e-book reader etc. on the phone along with HD movies and HD games. For connectivity, the smartphone supports 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and Bluetooth. The Lava Iris 458q is one of the more affordable phones priced at Rs. 8,999.

White Nexus 4 16GB Goes on Sale in India

white nexus 4 white box

The Google Nexus 4 has been surrounded by rumors of a white version going on sale for months now. The White Nexus 4 was spotted at I/O several times and while Google made no officialannouncement, the White Nexus 4 was expected to be launched at Google’s June 10th event.
While the world awaits this elusive announcement, the White Nexus 4 has gone on Sale in India, and some lucky owners have already bought the white version from stores in New Delhi. The price remains same as the Black version and the capacity also remains the same at 16 GB.
It is highly unusual for a unannounced Google product to go on sale in India, let alone be launched. Maybe LG is trying to recover for the delayed launch of the original Nexus 4 by launching the white version before it gets launched anywhere else in the world. Or maybe some retailers couldn’t wait to make a sale, either way LG will be getting a lot of tweets today.
We will get you more details as and when we can and we will also try to go hands on with the product. You can watch our hands on with the black version below and the full review on the Nexus 4 also goes out today.
If the White Nexus 4 is actually available to buy here in India, we can only expect LG to furnish an official announcement soon enough.
Stay Tuned!

How to boost loudspeaker volume on your Android device

A simple tweak that can increase the sound output from your Android device in a jiffy without any customizations.

Even though we have bigger better Android smartphones today there has always been some or the other issue with the loudspeaker performance on some devices. The Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 is a superb device, for instance, but loudspeaker performance is on the lower side.

Here's how
Step 1
How to boost loudspeaker volume
Open the Android Market application on your device and try locating the app under the utilities tab or through the search widget at the top right corner. Alternatively, use the llink to locate the application and install it.
Step 2

This is a free to use application and has been tried as well but from a security point of view make sure to read the permissions asked by any app.

P.S. If your device's loudspeaker has ample volume already, do not try to boost it as it might destroy the speaker element.
Step 4

The application will open up to the main splash screen that showcases the single volume toggle and the settings key underneath it. Select the settings button or key to setup the app for the best possible experience. The next splash screen will open the settings page. Select the Notification bar option to proceed.
Step 5

The notification bar option controls when the application icon is placed on the notification bar on your device. By default it is set for always on, but it is advised to select the 'When active' option. It will put the notification on the bar when the app is in use otherwise it will hide the icon.
Step 6

Secondly, go back to the setting and select the maximum allowed boost level option. By default it is at 40; if need be try increasing it in increments of 10 and testing the loudspeaker each time.
