Samsung Galaxy S8 launch date to be unveiled at MWC 2017

Samsung has already confirmed that it will not launch the Galaxy S8 during this year’s Mobile World Congress show. However, if the latest report is anything to go, the company might reveal the launch date of the upcoming flagship device during the event.

According to The Korea Economic Daily, Samsung will reveal the launch date on February 27. As per the report, Koh Dong-jin, President of Mobile Communications, Samsung, said that the "official [launch] schedule" will be unveiled during the trade show. The South Korean is scheduled to a hold a press conference where it is highly expected that the company will launch the next-gen of its tablet known as Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and we might also see a one-minute teaser of the device.
As per various reports, the Galaxy S8 will be launched at an event in New York on March 29 and will go on sale on April 21. The company is destined to launch two variants, the 5.8-inch Samsung Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch Samsung Galaxy S8+ with both sporting QHD Super AMOLED and a screen-to-body ratio of about 83 percent.

Both of the devices are rumoured to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and company’s in-house Exynos 8895 chipset. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage, while it is reported that the China and Korean market will get a 6GB RAM and an option to choose between 64GB and 128GB of internal storage. A leak also claims that the former will come with a price tag of CNY 6,088 (approx. Rs 59,606) and the latter will be priced at CNY 6,488 (about Rs 63,523).

For the optics, both the variants will come with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/1.7 aperture and 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The camera is said to come with a bunch of new features including the recently rumoured visual search capability. For the battery, the 5.8-inch variant is likely to come with 3000 mAh battery while the 6.2-inch variant will house a 3500 mAh battery.
