Half a million Redmi devices sold in 72 hours

As part of the ongoing festive sales across leading e-commerce platforms in India, over 500,000 Xiaomi Redmi phones have been sold in the country in just three days. The announcement came from the Indian arm of the Chinese company on Twitter.
That translates into an impressive two phones sold each second. The company also revealed that the Redmi 3S was the top selling smartphone on Flipkart, while the Redmi Note 3 topped the charts on Amazon.
"More than six months of rigorous planning and hard work has helped us set a new benchmark in the industry," said Manu Jain, Xiaomi's India head. "Last year we sold more than half a million phones in 30 days during the month of October, and this year we were able to achieve a similar number within three days. Based on what we know, no other brand has ever achieved this in India."
For those who aren't aware, aside from Amazon and Flipkart, Snapdeal and Tata Cliq are also holding festive sales in the country.
