The floodgates have opened to a rather significant degree after the rumours of Apple said to be hosting an iPad event in early March broke. If the earlier report is anything to go by, we can expect Apple to make an announcement regarding their much awaited tablet during the first week of March at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The latest bit of information comes from The Next Web, who state that sources have informed them that Apple is in ‘crunch mode’ to finalize the best apps that are going to be shown off during the announcement and in commercials for the product.

The report states, “Apple has a long history of hand-picking apps that it thinks are exemplary or really show off the hardware of a device to demonstrate during iPad presentation. The iPad 2 saw demo segments with Apple’s own Garage Band, iMovie and Photo Booth apps, while the recent ‘Let’s Talk’ iPhone event saw game title Infinity Blade 2 demoed in order to show off the graphics capabilities of the new iPhone 4S.”
The website’s sources inform them that the selection process for the apps is happening at an increased rate as Apple wants to finalize the ones that are going to be shown off on the upcoming tablet. The website notes that there is a lot of emphasis on apps that feature heavy graphics as well as those that have high definition assets. This is in line with the numerous reports surrounding the iPad 3 with Retina Display capabilities.
The report also states that Apple has also forwarded some apps which they have shortlisted for the demonstration to their long-time advertising partner TWBA/Chiat/Day. These apps may be included in the demonstration or in the commercials for the upcoming iPad. The report states, “This process is entering its final phase as well, with the company on a tight deadline to deliver assets for playback during the presentation and later, television broadcast.”
It appears that Apple may be indeed hosting an event in the first week of March with all these preparations seemingly going in full swing. This and a lot more will be fully revealed, once Apple takes the stage to show off their product.
