Lenovo's IdeaPad Yoga Packs 360-Degree Flip/Fold Design

After announcing a huge load of devices, Lenovo has added two more to the batch, one of which can sport four different positions.

ZoomOn Monday night Lenovo announced the upcoming IdeaPad Yoga, the industry's first multi-mode 13.3-inch notebook with a 360-degree flip-and-fold design. It will combine the ease-of-use of a tablet with the functionality of an ultrabook, offering what Lenovo calls a four-in-one personal computing experience using notebook, tablet, stand and tent positions.

On the spec side of things, this unique notebook will measure just 0.76-inches thick and weigh 3.1 lbs. Intel Core family of processors will be the meat behind this upcoming Windows 8 device, complemented by up to 8 GB of RAM, and up to a 256 GB SSD. It will also feature soft touch rubber paint on the exterior for strong grip, a leather cover on the palm rest, and side buttons designed for ease of use across the range of usage modes.

As a tablet, the screen will support up to ten touch-based inputs. However, thanks to Yoga's patented 360-degree dual-hinge flip design, users can flip the screen panel into a stand or tent mode to save space or to bring the screen closer to the their eyes. This would also seemingly reduce any fatigue that would be brought on by holding the device like a 13.3-inch tablet for long periods of time (even holding a 7-inch tablet during an entire movie can get annoying).

In addition to the IdeaPad Yoga, Lenovo also introduced the upcoming IdeaCentre A720 All-In-One PC, reportedly the industry's slimmest 27-inch AIO, it measures just 24.5-mm thick. Like the Yoga notebook, this AIO will support up to 10 touch-based inputs. However, a widely adjustable hinge will allow the screen to be pulled towards the user at an angle of 5-degrees and folded back to an angle of up to 90-degrees, making touch applications more comfortable over longer periods in any position.

"With integrated entertainment features, such as room-shaking Dolby Home Theatre V4 audio, Lenovo High-Sense (720p HD) Webcam, and Lenovo IdeaTouch (a suite of touch-optimized applications and games), the A720 is an ultra stylish and fun addition for the modern home entertainment center. "

The IdeaPad Yoga multi-mode notebook will be available in the second half of 2012 with an estimated starting retail price of $1,199. The IdeaCentre A720 all-in-one will be available in the first half of 2012 with an estimated starting retail price of $1,299.
