Samsung Confirms: October 19 is Ice Cream Sandwich Day

The latest version of Android is being announced next Tuesday night and you can watch it live on YouTube. Time to load up on ice cream sandwiches!
Samsung has confirmed an Ice Cream Sandwich event is scheduled for October 19 in Hong Kong. The news follows rumors earlier this week that said Samsung and Google had moved the Nexus Prime to October 19, a date that coincides with AsiaD: All Things Digital.
Though the invitation doesn't mention anything about the Nexus Prime, or any new hardware, the invites did come from Samsung. If it were an ICS-only unveiling, Samsung wouldn't have much business sending out invites. It's also hard to imagine Google unveiling Android Ice Cream Sandwich without having some great hardware on hand to show it off. It's possible they'll use older devices, such as the Samsung-made Nexus S, as demo hardware, but we're hoping they go all out for this one and give us ICS and the Nexus Prime in one event.
Given the time and location, those watching from afar will need to put "Samsung event, October 18 at 10pm ET," into their appointment books. We can't imagine a nice way to welcome Hump Day than a nice, cool Ice Cream Sandwich, can you?
