Motorola Brings RAZR Back With Android and KEVLAR

The iconic RAZR is back, but this time it's smart.

ZoomThe Motorola RAZR is a legendary phone. It is the highest-selling clamshell phone in history, and soon a phone with that same name will be arriving in November.

Motorola today announced the new RAZR, which will be known as the DROID RAZR in the U.S. market as a Verizon exclusive. It earns its name with the thin profile at 7.1 millimeters thick. Powering it is a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor.

Besides running on Verizon's CDMA network, the RAZR will also operate on GSM in Canada (on Rogers), Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Middle East and Africa starting this November.

Its design starts with a "hyper-vibrant" 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced qHD display, a KEVLAR fiber back (yes, that KEVLAR) and Corning Gorilla Glass to help the screen stand up to scratches and scrapes. What's more, every part of Motorola RAZR is protected by a splash-guard coating – even the electrical boards inside.

ZoomOne customization that Motorola did on Android is the Smart Actions app that lets the user automate everyday tasks and enable better battery life. Smart Actions can turn down the ringer when you step into work, change the Bluetooth and GPS settings when you get home to save battery (through Wi-Fi network detection and geofences), or send a text to someone if you miss their call.

A great feature from the Motorola Atrix also lives in the RAZR with compatibility with the Motorola Lapdock 500 Pro or Lapdock 100 for a laptop-like experience. It can also connect to the HD Dock or HD Station to output to your home theater system.
