Toshiba is having quite a day today at IFA Berlin. In addition to an ultrabook and the world's first glasses-free 3DTV, the company also launched the follow-on to it's just launched Thrivetablet.
The Toshiba Thrive has only been available for a couple of months, but already Toshiba is eager to introduce us to its successor. Dubbed the Toshiba AT200 (the Thrive is known as the AT100 in the UK), the tablet was unveiled by Toshiba Europe and measures in at 0.3-inch thick and 1.23 pounds in weight. The device boasts a 10.1-inch 280×800 display, a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel camera up front, as well as micro-USB, microSD, and micro-HDMI ports, WiFi, Bluetooth, and stereo speakers.
The news confirms earlier reports from Notebook Italia that pointed to a slimmer Android 3.2 device with brushed-metal chrome frame instead of the current Thrive tablet's thick and heavy rubberized design. No word on pricing or availability just yet, but according to PC World, Toshiba America has confirmed that it will be sold alongside the Thrive when it does arrive in the United States. For those interested, the Thrive packs a 10.1-inch screen, a dual-core Tegra 2 chipset, Honeycomb 3.1, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera (and a 2.1-megapixel job up front), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a full-sized USB port and HDMI support.
