Yesterday ZTE finally told us when to expect an Android 7.0 Nougat update to hit its Axon 7smartphone, and today it's time for OnePlus to come clean regarding its latest flagship, the OnePlus 3. A beta build of Nougat for the handset will become available this month, apparently, with the final release being rolled out by the end of the year.
That means OnePlus will beat ZTE at the update game, since the Axon 7 is only tasting Nougat in January. OnePlus has confirmed that its flagship offering from last year, the OnePlus 2, is also in line to receive a Nougat update at some point. However, exactly when that will happen isn't known yet. We assume there's no way for that to arrive before 2017, though.
As for the OnePlus X and OnePlus One, those aren't going to see official Nougat builds because of their chipset, which can't support certain graphics-related requirements in Android 7.0. OnePlus is expected to launch a new phone next week - this will be dubbed OnePlus 3Tand should be sold running Nougat from day one.
