South-Korean electronics giant LG is all set to unveil the Optimus G smartphone in India and the company has started sending out press invites for an event in Mumbai on February 27. Though LG hasn’t explicitly mentioned the launch of Optimus G, but considering that Saholic.com has already started taking pre-orders for the device and promises to ship the smartphone in 3 business days, we expect LG Optimus G to be the focus of the event.
However, LG may have a tough time selling the Optimus G in India, as Samsung has recently slashed the price of the immensely popular Galaxy S3 in India and the smartphone is now available under the Rs.30,00 price point. Other flagship devices like the iPhone 5, Lumia 920 and the HTC Butterfly have also been in stores since a long time now, and the rumors about Nokia planning to slash the prices of Lumia smartphones in India will only make things worse for LG.
LG has already taken a long time in bringing the Optimus G smartphone to India, and the launch comes at a time when the successor of Optimus G, the LG Optimus G Pro is set to go on sale in South Korea.
On the specifications front, the LG Optimus G sports a 4.7-inch True IPS HD display that has a resolution of 1280 X 720pixels, amounting to a pixel density of with 320ppi. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM along with Adreno 320 GPU. The smartphone gets 32GB of internal storage and houses a 13 megapixel camera at the back along with a 1.3 megapixel camera the front for video calling. Connectivity options on the LG Optimus G include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, etc. and the smartphone also packs-in a 2,100mAh battery.
If you were hoping to get your hands on the device since long, you can head over to Saholic and pre-order the device, where it is listed with a price tag of Rs.30,990.
