Indian smartphone manufacturer Lava has launched a new entry-level smartphone in the market- the Lava Iris 351. The new smartphone is available via major online retailers like Infibeam and Saholic for a price of Rs.3,899.
The Lava Iris 351 is a dual-SIM (GSM + GSM) smartphone and sports a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. Powered by a 1GHz processor paired with 256MB of RAM, the smartphone runs on the older, Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread.

The smartphone houses a  2 megapixel camera at the back and unsurprisingly, misses out on flash as well as on a front-facing camera. The Iris 351 comes with 512MB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a micro-SD card by up to 16GB. To make the deal more lucrative for the buyer, Lava is bundling a 4GB micro-SD card inside the box.
The Iris 351 offers decent connectivity options for the price which include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and the smartphone packs-in a 1,300 mAh battery.
Though the specifications on the Lava Iris 351 seem quite weak, but the smartphone can be a good option for the buyers a tight-budget. Also, Lava isn’t the only manufacturer to offer smartphones at this price point as almost all the other Indian manufacturers too, offer entry-level smartphones in the sub-Rs.5,000 category.
A couple of noteworthy offering from other manufacturers in this segment are the Micromax A30, which offers dual-SIM capabilities and a 3-inch display with 320×240 pixel resolution along with a 832MHz CPU. 256MB of RAM, 512MB on-board storage, micro-SD card slot. The other ‘decent’ smartphone in this segment is the Intex Aqua 3.2, which sports a 3.2 inch display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, 1GHz processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 2MP rear camera and 75MB of in-built storage along with a micro SD card slot.
