Asus has launched a new touch-enabled ultrabook- the VivoBook S550CM in the Indian market at a price of Rs.57,999. Running on the latest, Windows 8 OS, the VivoBook S550CM boasts of a brushed-hairline aluminum textures, which gives the tablet an elegant look and offers high durability to the ultrabook.
The Asus VivoBook S550CM can be configured to be powered by up to third-generation Intel Core i5 processor along with a maximum of 4GB RAM. To enhance the graphical capabilities of the device, it comes with a 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 635M graphics chip with DirectX 11 compatibility. Even with it slim design, the VivoBook S550CM manages to pack-in a Super-Multi DVD optical drive.
The ultrabook boasts of a touch-enabled 15.6-inch HD display which has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The touchpad on the VivoBook S550CM offers a quicker and more precise gesture detection and a wider range of supported motions. These include tapping, scrolling, zooming, dragging, clicking, and more. It also features Smart Gesture technology, which according to Asus, “combines hardware and software optimization to present a new incredible standard in touch fidelity”.
The VivoBook S550CM offers a 750GB of HDD storage along with a 24GB Solid State Drive, which allows an ultra-quick on-time of under 2 seconds on the VivoBook S550CM. The ultrabook also offers 32GB of cloud storage to it’s users, which is valid for a period of three years. The device fetures all the standard ports which include one VGA port, one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, 1 Ethernet port and one HDMI port.
ASUS VivoBook S550 offers an enhanced audio experience with deeper and richer bass, a wider audio range, true-to-life surround, powerful output, distinct vocals, and pristine clarity. The ultrabook comes with selectable audio modes fitting your needs based on your environment and preferences to ensure multi-faceted and living music, movie, and even game sound.
It looks like the competition in the Ultrabook segment in India will surely get even more intensified in the times to come as more and more manufacturers start to role out more pocket-friendly ultrabooks. Last week, Dell unveiled it’s Inspiron 15Z Ultrabook at a starting price of Rs.41,999, which seems quite a good option for buyers who seek entry-level ultrabooks in the market.
