Apple slashes MacBook Pro and Air 13 prices, refreshes Retina MacBook Pro


Apple has reduced the prices of the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro, and given the range a refreshed line of processors. The MacBook Air price has also been slashed. Ready to buy one now?

In what is essentially a surprise announcement from Apple, the company has slashed the prices of the MacBook Pro and Retina MacBook Pro range, along with the 13-inch MacBook Air (with the 256GB SSD). The Retina MacBooks will also get a processor line-up refresh. The 13-inch MacBook Pro versions have received a price reshuffle, while the 15-inch versions get more powerful processors.
Let us start with the MacBook Pro first. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display now starts at Rs. 99,900. This has an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB SSD. The slightly upgraded version of the 13-inch MacBook with Retina will now cost Rs 114,900, with a new 2.6 GHz processor which replaces the 2.5GHz processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB flash storage.
The entry level 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display now gets the faster Intel Core i7 2.4 GHz quad-core processor with the 8GB of RAM remaining the same, while the top-of-the-line version gets the new Intel Core i7 2.7 GHz quad-core processor and 16GB of RAM. The 15-inch MacBook Pro with the 2.4 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor is priced at Rs 152,900, while the version with the 2.7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 is priced at Rs 192,900.
The top of the line MacBook Air 13 with a 1.8GHz processor, 4GB of RAM and 256GB storage gets a price cut of Rs. 5,000, and is now available for Rs 94900. Prices of the MacBook Air 13 128GB SSD version and the MacBook Air 11’s 64GB and 128GB SSD versions remain the same.
