The Bottom Line
HTC Butterfly is the world’s first and only smartphone in the market at present to sport a full HD display. But with the Sony Xperia Z already being announced and other flagship devices soon to follow, is it worth spending your hard earned money on this device? Or wait for other flagship smartphones to hit the market? Let’s find out!

Initial impressions

HTC Butterfly is the international version of HTC Droid DNA, which was a US-specific smartphone and is the current flagship device of the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer. Now, the original version of HTC Butterfly, which was launched earlier in Japan under the name ‘J Butterfly’ was the first smartphone to sport a 1080p display.
HTC butterfly comes with a 5-inch Full-HD Super LCD 3 display with pixel density of a whooping 440ppi. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and is incredibly beautiful to look at and you might just fall in love with the device at the first glance. Under the hood, the HTC Butterfly is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 pro quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and offers a quite smooth experience.
The rear of the device gets an 8.1 megapixel snapper that has HTC’s Image Chip and that can be seen in the image quality of the device. The front of HTC Butterfly gets a 2.1 megapixel  camera, which is also capable of recording videos in Full HD. The smartphone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Sense 4+ UI on top and is also upgradable to Android 4.2.
The HTC Butterfly gets 16GB of internal storage along with a micro-SD card for storage expansion by up to 32GB and the only major concern we have with the device is it’s 2,020 mAh battery as we doubt how much running time would it be capable of providing to the massive 5-inch Full HD display. We expect the device to reach our studio in just over a week and then, we’ll be out with our full review of the HTC Butterfly.
