HP announces two new “affordable” sleekbooks powered by AMD processors

Apart from showing a plethora of monitors at CES, it seems that HP does have some other devices to showcase as well! The company has announced two new affordable sleekbooks running on Windows 8 for it’s Pavillion range, one of them being a touch-screen enabled (Pavillion TouchSmart) Sleekbook, while the other, a non-touch (Pavillion) sleekbook.
While both the sleekbooks feature a 15.6-inch display, but they differ in terms of raw power under the hood. The Pavillion Sleekbook is powered AMD’s Trinity A6-4455M processor paired with 4GB DDR3 RAM, whearas the Pavillion TouchSmart Sleekbook gets powered by AMD’s trinity A8 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. Both the variants differ in storage space as well, as the Non-touch version comes with a 500GB hard drive while the TouchSmart version gets 750GB of storage space.
HP says that the two new Sleekbooks are an affordable option for consumers who don’t require all the features that an Ultrabook offers or simply, don’t want to spend that much money. Essentially, the Sleekbook from HP is similar to an Ultrabook but with a slightly thicker chassis and AMD processors, instead of Intel processors.

The  HP Pavilion Sleekbook range starts at a price of $479.99 while the HP Pavilion Touchsmart Sleekbook range starts at $649.99 and will be available in the US starting January 13,2013. We don’t know about time of release of these devices in other markets as of now but we guess HP would soon come out with more details
