Huawei Honor U8860 (Rs 9,990)
Huawei Honor was one of the early smartphones to get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. Launched for about Rs 19,990, the Honor U8860 can now be purchased for as low as Rs 9,990 from ManiacStore.
It features a 4.0-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 480x854 pixel resolution. By default, the Honor runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and packs 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255T mobile processor paired with 512 MB RAM and features 4 GB ROM. It features a memory card slot to expand the storage and it features sensors such as accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity and digital compass.
Huawei has also packed a FM Radio since Indians love FM a lot. The Honor supports 3G networks with HSDPA up to 14.4 Mbps speed and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps speed. Honor has an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash at the back and there is also a front facing VGA camera for video chats.
Honor comes in six different colours and packs a 1930 mAh battery to make the phone run longer than usual mid-range devices.
Sony Xperia ION LT28h (Rs 25,500)
Sony's first 4G LTE networks supporting smartphone - the Xperia Ion was launched in India few months ago for around Rs 30,000. However, it is available for as low as Rs 25,500 from ShopClues.com
Sony Xperia Ion features a 12 megapixel camera with Exmor R imaging sensor and LED Flash. Apart from capturing high resolution images, this camera can also record full HD videos. There is a 1.9 megapixel camera in the front for HD quality video chats as well.
Its 4.6-inch touchscreen LED backlit LCD display supports 720p HD resolution natively. The Xperia Ion features Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine that promises better sharpness and clarity to the images. Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread by default, the smartphone has got the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update and the company has promised to release Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update as well.
Inside the chassis of Ion, rests a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260 mobile processor and 1 GB RAM. Sony has also offered a micro HDMI port to connect it to larger display and packed a 1900 mAh battery to make it run longer.
Nokia 808 PureView (Rs 23,499)
Launched earlier this year, Nokia's flagship Symbian 808 PureView is still creating raves with its 41 megapixel image sensor. But if you are eying it for a long time, then this is the time to buy it as the Nokia 808 PureView is now available online for as low as Rs 23,499 from Saholic, against its launch price of Rs 33,899.
The Nokia 808 PureView has a 4-inch Amoled ClearBlack touchscreen display which is gorgeous on paper but unfortunately supports 640x360 pixel resolution. But the display has been made using Corning Gorilla Glass technology for strength.
Nokia 808 PureView comes with a single-core 1.3 GHz ARM 11 architecture based mobile processor to power the Belle Feature Pack 1 OS which is supported by 512 MB RAM. Most novel part of this Nokia device is the 41 megapixel image sensor that comprises of Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon Flash. Nokia has added the PureView Pro imaging technology which basically makes the image sensor utilise the pixel oversampling technique to deliver best and clearest quality photos.
The camera is capable of recording a full 1080p HD video and one can also go ahead for 4x lossless digital zoom. There's a front facing camera but surprisingly has not been enabled for usage. The Dolby Digital Plus mobile chip housed inside the phone delivered great multimedia experience with the supporting headphones. Nokia has added a 1400 mAh battery which promises about 11 hours of talk time over 2G networks.
Sony Xperia S (Rs 23,500)
This smartphone too is available for a huge discount. Launched for Rs 32,549 in India, it now can be purchased for as low as Rs 23, 500.
Sony Xperia S has a 4.3-inch LCD display that supports 1280x720 pixel resolution natively. Sony has packed a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260 mobile processor with 1 GB RAM in it. This smartphone offers 32 GB on-board storage but there is no memory card slot.
The Xperia S has 12 megapixel camera at the back that is capable of recording 1080p HD videos at 30 frames per second. There is also a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera that is capable of supporting 720p HD video chats. Wireless connectivity is enabled with 3G networks and WiFialong with WiFi Direct support.
Sony Mobile has added Stereo FM with RDS and also offered better GPS experience with A-GPS and GLONASS support. The Xperia S also features an HDMI port but packs a 1750 mAh battery which might be bit less powerful enough to make the phone run for long hours.
Lava Xolo X900 (Rs 15,490)
Introduced for Rs 22,000, the Lava Xolo X900 is a good purchase for it is now available for Rs 15,490 from ManiacStore.
Lava had introduced the Intel mobile chip powered Xolo X900 smartphone last year with a bang. The Xolo X900 comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but recently has been promoted to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.
Under the chassis, Xolo has a single core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom mobile processor and 1 GB RAM. It features a 4-inch display which makes it big enough to enjoy reading as well as the multimedia. The display has been built using the Corning Gorilla Glass display that provides enough strength and resistance from scratches.
At the back, it sports an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash to capture high quality images and also to record full 1080p HD videos. Its front facing 1.3 megapixel camera can be used for video chats. The only pitfall is that it packs a 1460 mAh battery which serves much less run time.
