Nikon 1 V1 and J1 cameras announced in India

Today, at an event held in Mumbai, Nikon announced their new digital imaging system and put forth two new models, namely Nikon 1 J1 and the Nikon 1 V1. The new Nikon 1 system claims to blend in superior image quality, speed and portability, and the models were unveiled by Nikon’s brand ambassador and Bollywood superstar, Priyanka Chopra. The Nikon 1 according to the company is a whole new category catering to users who want light-weight cameras that capture and share high quality images and videos effortlessly. The Nikon 1 J1 with 10-30mm VR kit lens is priced at an MRP of Rs.29,950 and the Nikon 1 V1 with 10-30mm VR kit is priced at Rs. 43,950. Both models are slated to hit Indian stores, somewhere around next week.

“I love everything about the Nikon 1 series of cameras.  They’re small, light, stylish and above else filled with the features that you usually find in the hi-end professional cameras.  I also love the fact that these ‘pocket beauties’ come with interchangeable lens," said the brand ambassador and Bolywood star Priyanka Chopra.

The Nikon 1 J1 talks about lens interchangeability, along with simplicity to be used in any situation, while Nikon 1 V1 has been designed for photo enthusiasts who value interchangeable lens versatility in a small form factor. In fact, the V1 claims to be the world’s smallest and lightest camera with interchangeable lens versatility and electronic view finder. Both devices share some common features, such as Motion Snap Shot, Scene Photo Selector, Slow Motion Video Full HD, to name a few. 

The Nikon 1 J1 captures moments using the hybrid Autofocus (AF) and promises blazing fast speed with continuous AF. The Smart Photo Selector feature is capable of capturing the best possible image. A slight touch on the shutter button captures high-quality images, while recording Full HD 1080p videos, simultaneously and the new Motion Snapshot mode captures moments, such as combination of moving and still images. Nikon has also crafted completely new 1 Nikkor lens system for seamless integration of powerful precision optics into a camera platform.

The Nikon 1 V1 includes features like 1.4 million dot high resolution EVF that automatically activates when the user raises the camera to their eye, apt for creating movies as well as for images. It comes with high-speed electronic shutter, a magnesium alloy body that conceals a high performance mechanical shutter and also Nikon’s new Multi-Accessory Port. The port assists in attaching options, such as the new SB-N5 compact speed light, or the GP-N100 GPS module. It has a stereo microphone input for professional quality audio.
