Micromax to launch Android ICS tablet in two weeks


The device will be priced around Rs 15,000 & Micromax is also in talks with service providers for providing a bundled data plan.

Indian handset player Micromax is set to launch an Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) based tablet in the next two weeks.
"Micromax's 7 inch tablet will be launched in the next 15 days and will come pre loaded with exclusive content related to entertainment and education," sources familiar with the development said to The Mobile Indian.
Sources further said that the device will be priced around Rs 15,000 and that Micromax is also in talks with service providers for bundling data plans with the device, but nothing has materialised so far.
The upcoming Micromax tablet will have a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen and WiFi connectivity. It will also have an HDMI slot.
Apart from the tablet, Micromax will launch another affordable dual SIM Android smartphone for Rs 8,000 in March this year.
To be named Micromax A78, the smartphone will have a 3.5 inch capacitive display, and will be powered by Android 2.3 operating system. Besides, it will have a touchpad and a Qwerty keypad.
On the connectivity front, A78 will support WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The phone, with dimensions of 12 cm x 6.35 cm x 1.09 cm, will also come with an expandable memory slot that accepts up to 32 GB. Micromax A78 will have gravity and light sensors as well.
