When the Galaxy Nexus finally does arrive, it's going to cost you a pretty penny.
Announced in October, the Galaxy Nexus was supposed to launch in the United States in November. When it became clear that the device likely wouldn't be launching in November after all, Verizon said that we'd see the Galaxy Nexus in December. However, the company did not reveal any specifics, such as price or an exact release date.
As far as the latter is concerned, there are many possibilities. The phone is going on sale in Canada on December 8, and there is speculation that it might hit U.S. shelves on the next day. There's also talk of a December 11 launch thanks to a handy inventory screen shot from one Best Buy employee. When it comes to price, though, we haven't heard much of anything.
The Wall Street Journal is citing people familiar with the matter in reporting Verizon will be selling the Galaxy Nexus for $299.99 with a two-year contract. Apparently the network is eager to make this $300 price tag "the new norm" for smartphones and, according to the Journal, is "betting that customers will be attracted by the carrier's reputation for network quality and its high-speed, mobile-broadband network."
Would you pay $300 for a phone that comes bundled with a two-year contract? Let us know in the comments below!
