Vodafone India launches Appia-powered mobile app store, VStore


In view of escalating popularity of mobile apps among the smartphone users, Vodafone India has unveiled its own mobile app store, VStore. Available for 2G and 3G users, the VStore is said to feature more than 10,000 free and paid apps for major mobile operating systems such as Java, AndroidBlackBerry and Symbian. The new Vodafone mobile app store is powered by white-label content provider, Appia.

The VStore features apps from all the popular genres such as games, entertainment and social networking. The app store can be accessed via GPRS-enabled handsets. It also includes a wide range content from its content providers such as Hungama, India Games and Nazara, Spice. Besides, it also provides Vodafone apps such as Vodafone TV and Portfolio Tracker.
To access the VStore, Vodafone subscribers need to send a SMS stating <Apps> to 111 from their GPRS-enabled handsets. The subscribers will receive a link in the response message, which directs them to the Vodafone mobile app store. Moreover, Vodafone subscribers can visit live.vodafone.in and click the VStore link, available on the Vodafone Live Homepage.
It's notable that other major telecom operators in India such as Airtel and RCom have already launched similar mobile app stores.
