MapmyIndia launches a free location-based app, ShowNearby

MapmyIndia, the digital navigation service provider, has launched a free location-based app for AndroidBlackBerry and iOS operating systems. The new app called “ShowNearby” helps users search for places of interest nearby, such as petrol pumps, retail brands, tourist spots, emergency services, resturants and ATMs. The ShowNearby app is powered by digital map data of MapmyIndia.
The ShowNearby app automatically identifies the user's location via GPS and displays information on the basis of distance from where user is then located. The app gives information such as address and phone number of whichever place users wish to visit. With the ShowNearby app, users can save the data in their phones and even share with friends via SMS or e-mail. Users can also look for deals at desired outlets and brands.
"The user can view the place on MapmyIndia's detailed maps and get accurate directions to it, directly call up the place, save it to his contacts and also share the place with friends via email or SMS. The user can also see and request deals at outlets and brands in the application," says the company in a release.
MapmyIndia is offering the app for free of cost. The app will be soon available for Windows Phone 7 operating system. BlackBerry users can download the app through the BlackBerry App World, while Android users can get it via Android Market. The iOS users can find the app at iTunes App Store. Users can search for MapmyIndia ShowNearby app or just visitm.mapmyindia.com from their mobile phone browsers. Read more details about the latest ShowNearby app at www.mapmyindia.com.
