It might seem like only yesterday you purchased your trusty Nexus One, but the truth of the matter is that your phone is getting a little bit long in the tooth.
One of the major perks of owning a Nexus-branded smartphone is that you get the Android updates before everyone else. However, it seems those first to jump on the Nexus bandwagon may not get the latest version of Android at all. The London Telegraph cites Google's Hugo Barra as saying that, while last year's Nexus S will get the update within a few weeks of the Galaxy Nexus launch, Nexus One users won't be so lucky.
"Owners of the first official Google phone, the Nexus One, will not be getting the upgrade, however," writes Matt Warman for the Telegraph. "Barra said the hardware was simply too old to run the new operating system."
That said, while Google may not officially release the Android 4.0/ICS update for the Nexus One, the developer community is another story entirely. There has already been some success in porting an early version of ICS to the Nexus One, so don't rule out an unofficial version just yet. As far as hardware goes, the Nexus One boasts a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 512MB of RAM, up to 32GB of removable storage, and a 5-megapixel with 2X digital zoom, autofocus, LED flash and 720p video.
