It feels like October is going to purely divine for smartphone lovers. Apple’s wants to “talk iPhone” on the 4th of the month, an event that will hopefully and finally be the unveiling of the iPhone 4S, or 5. This will be followed by HTC with a phone of their own on the 6th, a device that just might be another Android Beats inspired phone, like the Sensation XE.
Next, after great anticipation, Google will introduce the latest version of the Android OS, v4.0 orIce Cream Sandwich, on the Samsung Nexus Prime, the lead platform device due for release on October 11.
There’ve been reports of Google co-hosting the CTIA expo with Samsung, and the Korean giant has already sent out invitations for its ‘Unpacked’ event, where Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich will be introduced alongside Samsung’s Nexus Prime.
The latest platform seems to be in proper shape, when we saw it last week in a video uploadedby a recent Nexus S purchaser who interestingly, got Ice Cream Sandwich instead of Gingerbread pre-installed. While the latest version of Android, the world’s most popular smartphone operating system, is certainly eagerly anticipated, the Samsung Nexus Prime deserves our rapt attention as well, rumoured to be a pretty impressive device.
Reports suggest that the display of the Nexus Prime will be a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, and the phone will be powered by an overclocked variant of the powerful, Exynos chipset (previously used on the Galaxy S II), with a couple of 1.5GHz CPU cores.
With such a lineup expected, October feels like an early Christmas for both iPhone and Android smartphone users.
