Apple iPhone 4S facing battery issues?

After the antennagate problems of the iPhone 4, the latest model from Apple seems to be having a few hiccups with its battery life. As reported by PCMag, there are chances that there’s a small bug in iOS 5 that is the cause for the quick battery drain.

Battery problems?
Battery problems?

The main reason cited for this battery problem is that the new OS causes the Setting Time Zone function to keep location tracking enabled at all times, which drains the battery power extremely quickly. There’s an option to switch that off also, but that means that your phone will no longer be able to set its own time zone automatically.

Besides the location problem, some users have been complaining that their device lasts only a few hours even when they don’t really use it. A quick glance at the spec sheet of the 4S will reveal 200 hours of standby time. If that's true, then it's a big difference in real world and synthetic statistics. Apple hasn’t officially confirmed this problem yet, but according to PCMag, Apple engineers have installed diagnostic tools on the devices of a few users and the results are being tracked by Apple.

As we all know, one of the most important aspects of a phone is the battery life. This supposed problem is definitely a downer for Apple. Do you think battery problems for such an expensive product can be overlooked? Let us know in the comments section below.
