Apple and Samsung have been involved in a messy legal battle for quite some time with the former suing Samsung in several countries around the world over the last few months.
Apple has brought it's patent litigation suit against Samsung to the Japanese courts. The company recently made the move to file for an injunction to prevent certain Samsung products from being sold in the country. Reuters reports that Apple is claiming Samsung's product line violates patents relating to its wildly successful iPhone and iPad devices and cites sources close to the matter that say Cupertino is looking to have sales of the Galaxy S, Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Tab 7 suspended.
Apple has already secured an injunction against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7 in Germany, and against the Galaxy S phones in many countries across Europe. Samsung and Apple are also awaiting a hearing that will decide whether or not the Galaxy Tab 10.1 can be sold in Australia. Apple filed a patent infringement suit against Samsung in Sydney in early August to prevent the sale of the device. Samsung had planned to launch a modified version of the Galaxy Tab for Australia but Apple said the new model still infringed upon two patents. As a result, a two-day hearing has been scheduled for September 25 and 26 with Samsung holding off on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 launch until after that court date.
Apple and Samsung's patent infringement battle has been going on since April of this year. Apple filed suit against Sammy alleging patent infringement and Samsung immediately counter-sued with its own allegations that Apple was infringing on Samsung-owned wireless and mobile technology patents. Since then, Apple has been on a quest to block the sale of several Samsung products. In this latest filing, Apple is seeking 100 million yen ($1.3 million) in damages along with the injunction.
