Are you read for Beats audio in a superphone package?
A couple of weeks ago, HTC announced that it was sinking $300 million into a strategic investment in Beats Electronics. The result of this investment would be HTC phones with integrated Beats audio. At the time of the announcement, HTC said that the company's first Beats-equipped phones would arrive in the fall. Now we hear that the first Beats phone has already been leaked.
The phone pictured above is the HTC Vigor, one of the HTC's hottest upcoming devices. Rumored to be Verizon's next big 4G LTE handset, the Vigor is packing a 4.3-inch HD screen, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a beastly 1.5GHz dual-core processor. With specs like those, this phone is easily a heavy-weight in the world of smartphones. However, Droid-Life reports that it's also going to be one of HTC's first Beats by Dre devices. Droid-Life also mentions that the Vigor could turn out to be the Incredible HD, and if you ask us, it would make sense that HTC would want one of its first Beats phones to carry the Incredible name.
Beats was launched in 2009 by Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre as part of an effort to improve the quality of audio products being sold today.
"The record business committed many, many mistakes in the last 10 years, and I'm right in there. One of them was letting its product get degraded," Iovine told CNet at the time. "It's one thing to let it get stolen, it's another to allow it to be degraded because then you really don't have a chance...video games and TV quality are getting better and the quality of our work is getting lower. If that happens, then music will become disposable. That's something we can fix."
HTC has not provided anything more specific than 'fall' when it comes to release dates for Beats phones.
