Exploring App Stores: Android F1 Apps for the upcoming races


Gentlemen and any ladies who are into the whole Formula 1 adrenaline speed rush and are looking to stay up-to-date with the races even while on the go, here are a few Android smartphone apps that are just what you need. 

Livesports24 F1 racing – Free
The world's premier motor racing competition is already underway of course but in case you don’t want to be left behind on the updates Livesports 24 app is just what you need to stay up to date with all the details. This app brings you live commentary, lap-by-lap race positions, live coverage of qualification sessions, real-time leaderboards, up-to-date news, circuit guides and plenty more.







Formula1.com 2011 – Free
The Formula1.com 2011 application could also be quite an essential app for F1 fans. It streams real-time data direct from Formula One Management's Technical Centre at the race track and displays the same information supplied to the teams from every session of the weekend, so you’ll have all the latest news on what’s going on without missing a beat








F1 Calendar 2011 – Free
Rather than worry about jotting down all of the dates and manually entering the details into your handset’s calendar as reminders, the Formula 1 calendar for 2011 is preloaded with all the details. It has a built in setting that will allow you to set a reminder for upcoming races so you’ll never miss a Grand Prix. It’s available in a variety of languages as well, including French and Italian. Unfortunately it doesn’t have any Indian regional languages.

F1 Live! – Free
F1 Live! App is designed to provide you with a whole lot of access to all you might need to follow the season and stay updated. It includes a complete season calendar with exclusive Live coverage for each race with Live commentary, results and latest driver and constructor championship standings as well. The app also has Comprehensive information of all Drivers and Teams, Latest News from the paddock and even an F1 fan forum for connecting with other fans.



While most apps may be free on the Android Market there are those that try and provide you with just a little more information and features than their ‘Lite’ editions. Here are a couple you might want to consider.

F1 Thrills & Spills – Rs. 149.47
As the name denotes, this app is a collection of F1 related videos. It contains footage of F1 races that, obviously, showcase only some of the best crashes and memorable moments in the sport's history - from Formula 1 crashes that go back to 1987 to footage from on board cameras etc. that were evident in 2006 till as late as 2009. A pretty decent app for those who like to reminisce. 

F1 2011 Timing App Premium - Rs. 1,125.92
For the absolute hardcore F1 fan this Premium version of the F1 2011 Timing app is a must have. It’s designed to cater to the true fans who need to be kept abreast of all the nitty gritty details of the sport no matter where they are so as to stay on top of things. It offers over 130 hours of live F1 coverage and allows you to access live timing and track positioning for all F1 sessions over a race weekend - P1, P2, P3, Qualifying and Race for the F1 2011 Championship. It’s also the winner of Best Sports App 2010 according to Sports Business International Magazine. It’s an official Formula One Live Timing and Track Positioning application for android devices.
